Image of the Month

This Arctic Ground Squirrel was not in the mood to be photographed.  Nestled in the rocks on a hillside along the Kongakut River in Northern Alaska,  it's most feared predator is the grizzly bear. They make a variety of sounds when a potential predator is nearby. One of these calls gives the animal its Inuit name ‘Sik-sik’.
