Hanging out with friends, great weather, and airplanes ….. that’s a hard combination to top.
I enjoy the challenge of photographing airplanes in an air-2-air setting. It brings a lot of photographic elements into play in order to get a clean strong image.
I want to drag the shutter so that the prop is burred. To me it looks very unnatural to have the prop stopped and I want to frame the image in a clean background that compliments the plane.
Although that sounds simple enough, shooting at slow shutter speeds can produce some images that are not tack sharp and finding a clean simple background can be challenging as you’re chasing the light.
When all the elements come together the images are magical.
