Adding New Skills

2011 is now history and the new year is just getting warmed up.  For me it’s a time to ponder what I want to accomplish and invest time in over the coming months.

Photographically I want to sharpen my people skills.  I want to become more comfortable in capturing a portrait that reveals something about that person with or without artificial lighting in quick and nonintrusive way.  That sound simple enough but for me it’s an area that I feel somewhat out of my comfort zone and would like to improve at.  As with most things, the only way to improve at it is through practice.  I’ve been blessed to have spent time around some very talented photographers, listened to and watched them work but that’s not the same as putting their actions and words into practice.

During the coming months I’m going to make a concerted effort to step out of my comfort circle and refine my photography so I can go after those photographs that I normally might just pass up.
