As the afternoon sun was getting low on the horizon the light on this skiff caught my eye. It’s a very simple image, but to keep it simple, I needed to fix a few problems I saw in the view finder.
Being a working fishing harbor, there were a lot of boats nearby making the scene very busy. The first thing I needed to do was to isolate the skiff. By just changing the lens to a telephoto lens, a 200-400f4, I was able to narrow the field of view of the image excluding all the surrounding boats. My next distraction came from some random reflections on the water which I didn’t like so I made them magically disappear by simply dialing in a little negative exposure compensation.
