Brooks Falls in Katmai National Park is one of my all time favorite places. I enjoy being close to the wildlife, spending hours watching the bears, no TV/radio/cell phone distraction and semi roughing it in the campground. This was a special trip as I was able to share this experience with a few close friends and my wife Janet.

Janet and I had a wonderful relaxing stay at the Kantishna Roadhouse – I highly recommend it! Now it’s time to head back to Anchorage to catch a flight out to Brooks Camp for a few days of camping and bear watching.
Just to mix things up we took the scenic flight back down to the Visitors Center insead of riding the bus. The view was spectacular from Kantichna Air’s Cessna 206.

I awoke to a blue sky and made the short trip over to Reflection Pond. I stood there for awhile just enjoying the moment. What an awesome sight.

Back a few years ago my son and I made the trip to Denali National Park. We camped at the Teklanika River campground and took the long six hour bus ride to Wonder Lake hoping to see Mount McKinley but the weather was rainy and overcast. Nothing but gray skies.
